Code of Conduct

Halton Regional Youth Advisory Committee (HRYAC) is committed to the concept of free speech. The Committee recognizes that free speech should be responsible, free from insult and respectful of others. With these concepts in mind, the Committee has created a message board where youth can gather to discuss issues that are important to them and to their community. To help us make this a welcoming format and a safe space for all participants, we have developed a series of guidelines to clearly outline the behaviors that are acceptable. The following guidelines will improve everyone's experience at our message board

Guidelines:

  1. You may not post or transmit any profanity or obscenities of any kind, even those disguised with *asterisks, on our site. Use your best judgment and the Golden Rule (treat others as you wish to be treated yourself). Keep in mind that others may not have the same sense of humor that you do.
  2. There are to be no personal attacks on other community participants. Personal attacks are comments that reflect upon the person instead of their opinion.
  3. Slanderous, defamatory, obscene, indecent, lewd, pornographic, violent, abusive, insulting, racist, sexist, threatening and harassing comments are not allowed. Haltonyouth.com is a moderated message board. There will be a delay until your message is posted. All messages are verified before they appear on-line. They are verified for appropriate language and content. If your message does not meet our standards you will be notified automatically by e-mail. Posted messages are not edited and appear as submitted.
  4. Please do not stray from the discussion topic. The Halton Regional Youth Advisory Committee provides the topics for discussion on our message boards and in our surveys. If you wish to suggest an issue(s) for discussion, please contact us.
  5. Any information submitted to the polls, message board and surveys becomes the property of the Regional Municipality of Halton.
  6. The HRYAC reserves the right to reproduce any material posted or sent to our site. All polls, message boards and surveys are recorded and will be summarized and may be used in documents or reports.
  7. Please remember that the Haltonyouth.com message board is a public forum for communication and any information you disclose becomes public information.
  8. You may not post any advertising or solicitation on our message board.
  9. You may not submit copyrighted material to our message board if you do not personally hold the copyright to the material, unless the submission constitutes a "Fair Use", or is in the public domain.
  10. Posting or transmission of any material that violates any Federal, Provincial or local law or regulation is absolutely prohibited.
  11. Impersonation of other participants or a public figure is unacceptable.
  12. When using our message board, please do not use oversize fonts, JavaScript, tables, heading or other advanced HTML commands. Please use only bold or coloured fonts to emphasize your points.
