On March 3, 2018, the Youth Talks Hear Us Out! event was the first youth-led event of the HYI: North Oakville Youth Development Council.  It took place on March 3rd, 2018 and was based around a Tedx Talk type idea.  Roles were reversed, as youth took the stage and raised adults’ awareness about topics that mattered to them it provided a few learning opportunities for adults too, like how to draw and use technology. Over 100 participants attended this event.

Youth Talks Hear Us Out! also highlighted the 5 elements of Developmental Relationships which was a foundational piece of the NOYDCs work to increase youths’ wellbeing which included:

• Expressing care to our youth through listening to their ideas and what they had to say,

• Sharing power with them,

• Providing support,

• Challenging their growth, and

• Expanding their possibilities!
