Meet Our Groups

Community Resources Work Group

“Working with NOYDC helped me to grow as a more thoughtful and confident leader. While I was able to collaborate with an amazing group of enthusiastic youth, I also developed my passion for advertising when creating engaging promotional contents to raise awareness.” -Angela (Youth Volunteer)

The goal of this team is to increase youth knowledge about local resources in Oakville and Halton Region.  Youth volunteers and adult allies have been working together to create engaging material and presentations on resources related to topics such as mental health and wellbeing + youth community involvement.

Youth Voices Work Group

"I personally really enjoyed volunteering for North Oakville Youth Voices Group as they give us the freedom to voice our ideas and then work on them as a group to create a final product. Teenagers are often considered incompetent when planning events and asked to do tasks assigned to them. However, NOYDC believed in us and let us voice our opinions and ideas, which motivated me to work even harder and make the most out of the time. I would definitely volunteer for them again."
–Wardah (Youth Volunteer)

This group focuses on increasing knowledge and awareness about key areas concerning youth and how our community can help.  Past topics this group has raised awareness about include building a caring neighbourhood which is a youth developmental asset, and most recently, highlighting youth voices about youth safer-spaces and expressing thoughts about keeping well both physically and mentally during COVID-19.

Youth Hangout Spaces Work Group

“Volunteering with the North Oakville Hangout Spaces Group has been a great way to meet like-minded peers and adult allies in the community, and work together to make a positive impact. Advocating for unstructured spaces in Oakville for youth and participating in impactful projects is both fulfilling and fun and has given me so many unique experiences!” –Tina (Youth Volunteer)

This group advocates for increasing positive youth hangout spaces in our North Oakville neighbourhood both at school and in our community.
